Dave Meltzer: WWE Gets $150M For Riyadh WrestleMania

WrestleMania in Riyadh is reportedly priced at 150 million dollars according to Dave Meltzer. He previously understood the figure to be over 100 million dollars based on information from people in Saudi Arabia.

The usual payment for WWE events in the country is 55 million dollars. The promotion is careful not to place that ongoing relationship in jeopardy.

Contingency plans exist in case WWE cannot fulfill the Riyadh date. The United States government currently maintains a Level 3 travel advisory against travel to Saudi Arabia.

An increase to a Level 4 advisory would block WWE from holding events such as Crown Jewel in the country. Meltzer views such a change as a potential bail-out because the decision would be taken out of the company's control.

This approach would avoid any risk of offending Turki Al-Sheikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority. Recent comments from Al-Sheikh about an upcoming boxing match were seen as a broader message to partners including WWE.

The statement emphasized that current conditions in Saudi Arabia would show the nation's true friends. It carried the implication that cancellations of planned events would not be received favorably.
