Dave Meltzer Details Bruce Prichard's WWE Exit

WWE executive director of creative writing and talent Bruce Prichard is set to retire from his full-time position following WrestleMania 43. He will continue with the company in a consultant role.
Prichard is expected to undergo a very serious surgery and plans to work from home more frequently. After stepping down, he will also be able to relocate away from Stamford, Connecticut, where WWE headquarters is located.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer shared additional details about Prichard's condition. The surgery is for his neck, stemming from an injury that occurred in 1991 which he did not realize was a broken neck at the time.
Meltzer noted that the injury happened around 35 years ago and that Prichard may have been working with Ultimate Warrior during the incident. Reports indicated one or two major surgeries are needed, either on the neck or back.
The demands of traveling on the road each week have become too difficult given Prichard's health situation. He is scheduled to work through WrestleMania before reducing his road schedule.
Following the announcement of Prichard's retirement from his current role, WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels is set to assume those responsibilities. Michaels currently serves as head of NXT and Senior Vice President of Talent Development and Creative.
