Booker T Says CM Punk's Second WWE Run Is Superior
“I saw something in CM Punk from the beginning. And when I talk about guys like CM Punk, you need guys like that. There’s a lot of guys that are willing to bank on themselves. You got to be willing to bank on yourself, just like Punk leaving WWE, going to AEW, and then leaving AEW and— Booker T
WWE legend Booker T claimed that CM Punk’s second run with the promotion is better than his first. After leaving WWE in 2014, CM Punk competed in the UFC, lost his matches, finished his MMA career and did commentary for Cage Fury Fighting Championships.
Punk then had a stint in AEW before returning to WWE in 2023. Since his return to WWE, Punk has been one of the top acts and has won the World title multiple times. Booker T said he saw something in CM Punk from the beginning and that the business needs guys willing to bank on themselves.
Booker T stated that Punk left WWE, went to AEW, left AEW and came back, and now his career looks strong. Booker T said, "I think this run’s better than his first." He added that this run is better in so many aspects and that Punk is no longer worried about the things that concerned him during his first run.
Booker T said he truly believes the things Punk worried about the first time are now far in his rearview mirror as far as what life is truly all about. Booker T said that for Punk to have gone where he had gone and then have to try to build something meant it was about building his legacy and destiny rather than about AEW.
