Billy Gunn Calls Triple H's 2019 AEW Jab A Dick Move

“The only one that got hurt out of that whole deal was him. I don’t want to say it, but it was a dick move.— Billy Gunn
D-Generation X was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2019. The group included Triple H, Road Dogg, Sean Waltman, Billy Gunn, Shawn Michaels, and Chyna. Fans chanted AEW during the ceremony while Gunn and the group were on stage.
Triple H responded to the chants by saying Vince McMahon would buy that company just to fire Gunn again. Billy Gunn later reflected on the moment in an interview. He stated that he expected some form of AEW reference because the company was popular at the time and he had joined it.
Gunn explained that Tony Khan allowed him to attend the Hall of Fame ceremony without issue. He noted that he anticipated a reaction from Triple H once the chants began. Gunn added that he prepared himself mentally for whatever comment might come.
According to Gunn, the only person who ended up looking bad from the exchange was Triple H. He described the comment as a dick move that was an attempt to save face. Gunn emphasized that such things are part of the wrestling business where companies stir up rivalries.
He observed that when someone appears with another promotion, the unwritten response is to acknowledge or address it. The fans initiated the chants, prompting a reply from the person leading the company at the time. Vince McMahon has not purchased AEW and is no longer involved with WWE following a lawsuit filed against him.
