AEW Group Changed Name Due To WWE RAW Concerns

David Finlay and Clark Connors had planned to name their AEW faction the Raw Dogs. The name proved difficult to use because of its connection to WWE's Monday Night RAW program.
The wrestlers instead settled on the name The Dogs for their group in AEW. They currently compete alongside Gabe Kidd under that banner.
Finlay, Connors, and Kidd had previously performed together as members of the War Dogs faction in NJPW. During an appearance on a podcast with Tony Schiavone, Connors discussed the naming process.
Connors explained that The Dogs was not their original choice upon arriving in AEW. He noted that the name still carries a strong identity and that no other major wrestling team had used it in the same manner.
Schiavone observed that the name The Dogs could gain greater recognition as AEW features the faction more frequently on television. Connors agreed with that assessment.
