Zayda Steel Reflects On Dream Match With Mercedes Mone

Zayda Steel faced Mercedes Mone in a singles match on the August 15 episode of AEW Collision. Mone secured the victory while preparing for her upcoming title win against Willow Nightingale. The bout represented a significant early career moment for Steel.
Steel discussed the experience in an interview on Muscle Memory. She described nearly crying as she walked to the ring for the match. Steel noted that Mone had long served as a personal comfort figure during difficult times in her life.
The 22-year-old wrestler highlighted that the match occurred within her first year in AEW. Steel expressed confidence that her performances would continue to improve beyond this point. She indicated interest in facing Mone again in the future.
Steel also competed against Jon Moxley in a mixed trios match in AEW during 2024. She had previously edited videos of Moxley and owned his merchandise from his time as Dean Ambrose in WWE. Steel felt extreme nervousness during the encounter and believed she accidentally injured Moxley's groin but was relieved to complete the match.
