Zack Gowen Announces Retirement From Wrestling

Zach Gowen has announced his retirement from professional wrestling after nearly 25 years in the industry. The former WWE Superstar shared the news on his Facebook page along with his first promo picture and his most recent one.

Gowen thanked every promoter who provided him opportunities throughout his career. He noted that he performed for every major wrestling company over the past 24 years.

He expressed gratitude to the fans for accepting him as a legitimate wrestler rather than a sideshow act. Gowen stated that pro wrestling gave direction to a lost kid and allowed him to accomplish his dream.

Gowen identified his one-off match against Ricochet for AEW in 2025 as the highlight of his career. His family was at ringside for the bout, which came after he overcame a serious drug addiction documented earlier this year.

He described the AEW appearance as the conclusion of a personal redemption story that changed the direction of his life. Gowen credited his victories to the support and investment from others.

NJPW commentator Walker Stewart shared the retirement news on X after calling Gowen's final match at a recent WrestleRave event in Houston, Texas. Gowen is recognized as one of the most famous one-legged wrestlers and previously competed for TNA, ROH, and WWE.
