WWE upset over staff voicing Saudi travel fears

WWE is unhappy that some non-wrestling staff members have voiced concerns about traveling to Saudi Arabia for the Crown Jewel event. Reports indicate that employees have expressed reluctance on social media amid the current security situation in the region. The original posts have not been independently verified.

WWE wants to present a united front regarding the event. No wrestlers have publicly commented on the travel concerns. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that wrestlers would face repercussions if they spoke out.

Meltzer reported that WWE has considered a backup location in the United States if Crown Jewel needs to be relocated. The company will not publicly acknowledge any backup plan. Doing so could upset Saudi officials and make it appear that WWE is wavering on its commitment to the event.

WWE has not announced any changes to its plans for Crown Jewel. The event remains scheduled for November 7 in Riyadh. A separate tennis tournament in Riyadh has been postponed until December, citing organizational and logistical challenges.

A boxing match between Canelo Alvarez and Christian Mbilli is still set to take place in Riyadh on October 31 as planned.
