WWE Pitches Revival of Sin Cara Character

WWE Pitches Revival of Sin Cara Character

WWE has made early pitches to revive the Sin Cara character that first appeared for the promotion in 2011. The idea involves a different wrestler assuming the role.

The character was originally played by Místico. Hunico took over the role after Místico received a 30-day suspension under WWE’s Talent Wellness Program in 2011.

The change led to a feud between Sin Cara Negro and Sin Cara Azul. The rivalry ended in a Mask vs. Mask match at a SmackDown taping in Mexico City on October 16, 2011.

Místico, as Sin Cara Azul, defeated Hunico in the mask match and unmasked him. Místico was released by WWE in 2014.

Hunico resumed portraying Sin Cara in late 2013 and teamed with Kalisto as the Lucha Dragons. WWE granted Hunico his release in December 2019.
