US Intel Memo Raises Security Fears for WWE Crown Jewel

A memo from the director of national intelligence has raised security concerns ahead of WWE's Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia. The memo informed the Secretary of State that intelligence agencies have received reports of Iran substantially increasing efforts to target US personnel.
The intelligence indicates that lethal plotting efforts by Iran against US citizens have reached advanced stages in the Middle East and certain other countries. The Trump administration confirmed the memo's existence through a US official.
Security worries for the premium live event have grown as Saudi Arabia has faced increased attacks from the Iranian-backed Houthi rebel group. WWE's executive chairman and CEO stated that plans for the November 7 event in Riyadh remain in place.
The executive noted that upcoming events including a UFC fight in Abu Dhabi and a Frieze art show are also proceeding without cancellation. He added that a team is monitoring the situation daily and would consider moving the event if necessary.
The United States has ordered nonessential diplomatic personnel and family members to leave the country.
