Undefeated Farid Basharat explains UFC exit
“I don’t think I fit the direction they’re trying to move in.— Farid Basharat

Undefeated fighter Farid Basharat has left the UFC. The 29-year-old confirmed his departure from the roster after the promotion declined to offer him a new contract.

Basharat achieved nearly all of his UFC victories by decision. He attributes his exit to a mismatch between his approach and the direction the organization is pursuing.

He described his style as high-IQ fighting that targets opponents' weaknesses while avoiding their strengths. In contrast, he believes the UFC now favors brawlers who deliver bloody, action-packed performances regardless of the outcome.

Basharat stated that the promotion is building an audience that equates entertainment solely with finishes. He argued this focus overlooks the skill level involved in high-quality bouts.

According to Basharat, prioritizing blood and early finishes over technical fighting cannot sustain the sport long-term. He warned that it risks delegitimizing the competition and leaving fans desiring better contests.

Basharat indicated he has not finished his fighting career. He remains uncertain about his next destination but mentioned a possible move to join his brother on the PFL or MVP MMA roster.
