Sami Zayn Retains WWE Title Against Je'Von Evans On Raw

Sami Zayn retained the WWE Championship by defeating Je'Von Evans on Raw. Zayn had come to the ring to deliver a promo complaining about the lack of respect shown to him as champion.

During the promo Zayn mentioned several names including Trick Williams, who is scheduled to challenge for the title on SmackDown, as well as CM Punk and Je'Von Evans. This brought Evans to the ring for a verbal confrontation that ended with Zayn attempting to leave.

Adam Pearce then informed Zayn that he would defend the championship against Evans right away. Evans gained the early advantage and hit a Red Dot dropkick for a near fall.

Evans followed with a roll-up and a frog splash that also came close to securing the win. Zayn rolled out of the ring and appeared ready to walk away from the match.

Penta then appeared with a referee and forced Zayn back into the ring. Evans nearly pinned Zayn after this sequence but the match was disrupted when Bron Breakker attacked Penta.

Evans dove onto Breakker from the ring but missed a springboard move back inside. Zayn capitalized with an Exploder into the corner followed by a Helluva Kick to score the pinfall and retain the title.
