Rey Pegasus Still Processing CMLL Middleweight Title Win

Rey Pegasus and Tornado won the 2026 edition of the CMLL Torneo de Escuelas as representatives of Escuela Magia Blanca. The duo defeated Estudiante Jr. and Feroz along with Pantera Jr. and Psycotic in the finals of the tournament. Pegasus has since captured the Mexican National Middleweight Championship in CMLL.

In an interview with Fightful’s Luis Pulido, Pegasus recalled encountering several fellow independent wrestlers during the Torneo de Escuelas, including Karma I, Tornado, and Cerebro Negro Jr. Pegasus explained that he spent many years on the independent scene and often crossed paths with these wrestlers in matches and locker rooms but their training schedules at different schools rarely aligned.

He described the tryouts for the tournament as a surprise because familiar faces from the indie circuit suddenly appeared together competing for a spot in CMLL. Pegasus stated it was cool to realize that so many independent wrestlers who had been grinding on the circuit had now received this opportunity and were taking advantage of it.

He added that it feels good to share the locker room with them now because everyone knows the struggles they went through to reach the top promotion. Pegasus noted that his time in CMLL has lasted just a few months and has already been filled with surprises and opportunities he has seized to remain on the active roster.

He credited the fans, the promotion, and the effort he and Tornado invested in the sport for their quick success in the Torneo de Escuelas. Pegasus said they did not anticipate such a rapid response but now must stay focused and keep preparing to climb higher in the ranks and on the programs.
