“It was absolutely amazing. Not just the fact that I was back home in the arena that I first went to see pro wrestling, but it’s so much closer than that.— Mike Bailey
Mike Bailey described his experience at AEW Redemption as an emotional homecoming in Montreal. He won the International Title number one contender ladder match in the same arena where he first attended a professional wrestling event.
Bailey highlighted the close-knit nature of the Quebec wrestling community. He noted that many people he knows personally were present throughout the crowd during the match.
The wrestler recalled seeing his mother, cousins, uncles, and aunts in the audience. It marked the first time his mother had attended one of his matches in his 20-year career.
Bailey explained that his family attended without informing him in advance. He said the moment of spotting familiar faces and securing the contract for a title shot at Grand Slam stood out as a career highlight.
Bailey is set to compete in the Clockwork Carnage match at AEW WrestleDream 2026 for the World Championship.
