Matt Riddle Enters MLW Opera Cup Tournament

Matt Riddle is set to compete in the MLW Opera Cup tournament for the first time. He has previously been occupied as MLW World Champion or pursuing the title during past editions of the event. Riddle aims to add the Opera Cup to his list of accomplishments in the promotion.

The Opera Cup is an annual signature tournament in MLW. The winner receives a historic trophy previously used by Stu Hart in Stampede Wrestling. It is recognized as the oldest trophy in professional wrestling.

Riddle begins his run in the tournament on Thursday's episode of MLW Fusion. He faces Mark Coffey in the opening round. The match will air on Tubi.

Before joining WWE in 2018, Riddle established himself in MLW and became a former World Champion there. His work in MLW contributed to his opportunity with WWE. He competed in NXT from 2018 until his release in 2023.

Following his WWE departure, Riddle returned to MLW and the independent circuit. He has stayed active with frequent bookings and fan interactions. Riddle mentioned working extra during the holiday season to offset fewer events around Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's.

Riddle has embraced life on the independents, including various appearances and matches. He recently wrestled in a torrential rainstorm.
