Marc Summers Recalls WWE Offer To Be Announcer

Marc Summers recalled an offer from WWE to work as an announcer on its programming while he was hosting Double Dare on Nickelodeon. He turned down the opportunity because the company provided no pay for the role.

Summers discussed the matter during a tour appearance where he was asked about his favorite episode of Double Dare. That episode featured a wrestling-themed segment called Super SlopAMania 1 with Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan.

Summers described meeting Heenan at age 16 while selling refreshments at Starlight Musicals in Indianapolis. He called Heenan the nicest guy in the world.

Summers also praised Gorilla Monsoon, noting that he held two degrees and was brilliant, fun, and funny. The Super SlopAMania 1 episode with the two wrestling personalities aired in February 1989.
