Leon Slater Recalls TNA Role at John Cena's Final WWE Show
“It was an absolutely unbelievable feeling, man. Not only to be one of, I think there was eight of us. I believe it was me, Sol, Oba, and Je'Von. But out of those, you know, kind of four or five people, not only having the chance to be one of those four or five people, but to be one of those four or five people and not even work for WWE.— Leon Slater
WWE TNA World Champion Leon Slater discussed his experience wrestling at John Cena's final WWE event, Saturday Night's Main Event in December 2025. The show included several young stars facing more experienced wrestlers. He expressed being honored to participate despite not being a WWE wrestler.
Slater noted on the I Love Wrestling Podcast that it was an unbelievable feeling to be one of eight young talents selected, specifically mentioning himself, Sol, Oba, and Je'Von. He highlighted that out of those four or five chosen, he was the only one not working for WWE while holding the X-Division Championship for TNA.
Slater said it felt even more special because both TNA and WWE trusted him to represent them and the future of the industry on such an important night for Cena's final match. The TNA star praised Cena for treating him the same as the WWE stars and revealed he got to speak with him, calling the interaction a special moment.
Slater described getting the chance to meet Cena and pick his brain as a dream come true. Since the match, Slater has appeared a few times in WWE, including on WWE NXT and wrestling Carmelo Hayes on WWE SmackDown.
