Jeff Cobb Recalls Surreal WWE Fan Encounters

“Fan interaction, definitely. It's definitely huge in Japan, and Japan has the most wonderful fans I've ever dealt with in my career. In WWE it's a little more strange, because fans will wait at airports.— Jeff Cobb
Jeff Cobb described his first trip to Saudi Arabia as a unique experience, traveling on a chartered jet from Miami to Riyadh for 16 to 17 hours. During a meet and greet event there, fans approached him to express appreciation for his work in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, which he found surprising and surreal given the global reach of professional wrestling.
After joining WWE, Cobb noted that being part of a large organization offered many learning opportunities even after years in the business. When asked what he had learned, he highlighted fan interactions as a key aspect, observing that WWE fans can be particularly passionate.
Cobb explained that while fan engagement is significant in Japan, where audiences are wonderful, WWE fans sometimes wait at airports for early morning or late flights. He mentioned fans appearing at baggage claim despite the inconvenient hours, creating a mix of annoyance and greater appreciation for their dedication.
Upon returning to New Japan Pro-Wrestling in August, Cobb anticipated a subdued reaction from the crowd but instead received overwhelmingly positive responses from supporters glad to see him back. His time in WWE helped him value Japanese fans even more.
Cobb is scheduled to face Callum Newman, the current leader of his former stable United Empire, in a singles match at NJPW Destruction in Kobe on September 27.
