Gabe Kidd defends Global title vs Shota Umino at King of Pro Wrestling

Gabe Kidd will defend the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship against Shota Umino at NJPW King of Pro Wrestling on October 12 in Tokyo. The matchup was officially added to the card following Umino's confrontation with Kidd at the Destruction in Kobe event. Umino challenged Kidd right after the champion retained the title against Drilla Moloney.

Umino previously held the Global title before losing it to Kidd in July during a Road to the G1 Climax show at Korakuen Hall. He will now have the opportunity to regain the belt in this rematch. Kidd had originally indicated plans to step away from NJPW until 2027, but the direct challenge and ensuing brawl prompted his continued involvement.

In addition, the United Empire team of Will Ospreay, Great-O-Khan, and HENARE will defend their trios titles at the same event. They are set to face OSKAR and Yuto-Ice from the Knockout Brothers, who will be joined by an undisclosed third partner.

The King of Pro Wrestling show is headlined by a title match pitting Yota Tsuji against G1 Climax winner Ryohei Oiwa.
