Darby Allin And Steve Borden Praise Sting's AEW Happiness

“Without a doubt, and I think a lot of it has to deal with Tony actually letting the wrestlers outside of the ring – and inside of the ring – live their best lives.— Darby Allin
Steve Borden discussed his father's experience in AEW during an interview. He noted that his father had more fun there than anywhere else in his career. Borden attributed this happiness to strong relationships with backstage talent and AEW President Tony Khan.
Borden stated that his father felt extremely respected and that his relationship with the company management was the best he had seen. This marked the happiest period Borden observed in his father's professional life.
Darby Allin described AEW as the greatest thing to happen in his life. He expressed personal happiness in the promotion. Allin credited Tony Khan for allowing wrestlers to live their best lives both inside and outside the ring.
Allin explained that the wrestling industry often wears people down while they balance career relevance and personal matters. He said Khan understands these pressures and encourages wrestlers to prioritize their personal lives.
Allin's final match in WWE occurred at Night of Champions 2015. He suffered an injury from a buckle bomb by Seth Rollins that led to his retirement. Allin believed Sting needed to return to the ring to conclude his career on his own terms.
Allin recalled that Sting felt good after taking bumps during their initial interactions. Sting joined AEW during the pandemic. Allin noted that many wrestlers with large egos would have waited for a sold-out arena debut instead.
