Chad Gable Says Shoulder Injury Fueled His Drive

“It's the kind of stuff you can't write even if you wanted to.— Chad Gable
Chad Gable discussed his shoulder injury on Insight with Chris Van Vliet. The injury occurred during his Worlds Collide 2025 match against El Hijo del Vikingo. Gable described the sequence of events that led to the mask versus mask match as happenstance that reinforced his belief that some things are meant to be and not mere coincidence.
Prior to the injury, Gable said he was at the peak of his career. He felt creatively fulfilled and was heavily involved in his work. The injury caused everything to come to a sudden halt, which he compared to the bottom falling out at the height of success.
Gable explained that the injury required surgery as it needed to be fixed. He mentioned sustaining additional damage from bumps during the Money in the Bank match. The following day, he experienced an unprecedented level of fragility where minor actions felt like they could cause further harm.
Following the injury, Gable spent time at home, which created anxiety. He maintained faith in the medical professionals and others he consulted about his recovery plan. He experienced FOMO while watching Kaiser perform the character he had created.
Gable stated that observing the character's unexpected success did not make him jealous. Instead, it fueled a competitive fire within him. He described this competitive drive as one of his strongest assets and emphasized that he does not harbor hate toward others' achievements.
