Andrade Recalls Origin Of His Pants-Off Routine In AEW

“I love wrestling and I respect the ring. In the ring, I like to show who I am. I know I’m a good wrestler.— Andrade El Idolo
Andrade El Idolo has grown into one of the most popular performers in AEW after he started removing his pants during matches. The act has become a regular part of his appearances, though he initially did not understand the crowd's chant.
During an interview, Andrade explained that he respects the wrestling ring and aims to show his true self inside it. While facing an opponent as a heel, he heard the audience chanting but could not make out the words.
He asked the referee what the crowd was saying and learned they were chanting for him to take his pants off. This confused him because he expected typical wrestling chants such as tables or this is awesome.
Andrade then approached referee Aubrey to confirm the chant. Once he understood the request, he removed his belt and unzipped his pants, which caused the audience to react strongly.
He always wears trunks underneath to avoid any wardrobe issues if the pants tear. On one occasion when he wore boxers instead, the crowd still chanted for him to remove his pants, and he complied.
Andrade successfully defended the AEW National Championship against Tommaso Ciampa at AEW WrestleDream.
