Andrade explains leaving AEW for WWE

“Personally was good, but professionally is a little sad because my contract was expired in this moment.— Andrade El Idolo
Andrade El Idolo left AEW in 2023 after spending two years with the promotion from 2021. He then joined WWE. The wrestler recently discussed the move in an interview.
Andrade said the decision felt personally positive but professionally sad. His contract with AEW had expired at the time. He chose to prioritize his personal life because he was married.
He informed Tony Khan that the contract had ended and expressed thanks for the opportunity. Andrade hoped to see him in the future while moving forward for a better personal situation.
Andrade stated he maintained a good relationship with AEW. After finishing with WWE in 2025, Tony Khan provided him another opportunity with the promotion.
He aims to repay the second chance by helping the company through his in-ring performances. Andrade wants to represent AEW well and deliver the best for both himself and the promotion.
Andrade returned to AEW in October 2025 but was quickly removed from television after WWE issued a cease-and-desist letter citing contract violations. Following a legal battle, he officially returned in January 2026 and has remained a regular part of the company since.
