AJ Styles Reveals Reason He Rejected Bullet Club Leadership

“We don't follow anybody, and so therefore that means you don't follow me. I'm not your leader, I'm just part of this group because we don't follow anybody.— AJ Styles
AJ Styles explained his decision to turn down the leadership role in Bullet Club. He presented the group as one that does not follow any single person, including himself, to ensure that every member remained equally important.
Styles emphasized that the faction was not built around one individual. He wanted the focus to stay on the collective rather than on himself or specific members like Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson.
According to Styles, this approach helped make the group special by keeping all participants on the same level. The shared dynamic reinforced the idea that Bullet Club operated as a unified entity without a central leader.
Styles noted that the enjoyment and positive attitudes among the members were evident. This energy contributed to the group's popularity in Japan, as audiences responded favorably to their fun and cool demeanor.
Bullet Club was quietly disbanded at the beginning of 2026. The remaining members either departed NJPW or joined the new Unbound Co. stable led by Yota Tsuji.
