AEW World Title Set For Clockwork Carnage At WrestleDream

The AEW World Championship match at WrestleDream will be contested under a new stipulation called Clockwork Carnage. The format was first tested at an independent event the day before it was announced on AEW Collision.

Eight competitors will participate in the match. It begins with two wrestlers, followed by an additional entrant every three minutes until all eight have entered. Any wrestler pinned or submitted before the final entrant arrives is eliminated.

After the last participant enters, the match transitions into a 15-minute Iron Man format. All remaining wrestlers compete, with every pinfall or submission counting toward the total. The wrestler with the most falls at the end of the time limit wins the AEW World Championship.

The reigning champion will first defend the title in a singles match on Tuesday at AEW Grand Slam France against Kazuchika Okada. The winner of that bout will proceed to defend the championship in the Clockwork Carnage match at WrestleDream.

Qualifying for the multi-man match begins in Paris with a bout between Samoa Joe and Jack Perry. Additional participants will be determined in the weeks leading up to the October 17 event.
