Deonna Purrazzo Calls For More Women In Backstage Roles

Deonna Purrazzo has called for greater involvement of women in backstage roles within the wrestling industry. She believes more female wrestlers should take positions in creative, talent relations, and as agents and producers.

Purrazzo highlighted the significant progress women's wrestling has made over the past decade. Women are now more frequently featured in main events, stipulation matches, and given adequate time to develop their characters.

She expressed pride in how commonplace it has become for women to compete in stipulation matches and to main event television shows and pay-per-views. This marks a shift from two decades ago when such opportunities were rarely provided.

Purrazzo noted her own experiences with this progress, including main eventing multiple pay-per-views in TNA/IMPACT and becoming the first Iron Woman there. She also main evented AEW Dynamite while contracted to TNA and participated in the first televised women's Texas Bullrope match.

She pointed to additional milestones such as the first women's Blood & Guts match and Athena main eventing several ROH pay-per-views. Purrazzo emphasized that women should earn spotlight based on the quality of their work rather than gender alone.

While acknowledging advancements on screen, Purrazzo stated that wrestling still operates like a boys' club in backstage areas involving influence and decision-making. She advocates for the same level of progress behind the scenes that has been achieved in front of the camera.
